The Rod 'N' Reel has grown considerably since beginning as a restaurant with charter fishing and marina in 1946. We continue to be family owned and operated. As we follow our traditions, we recognize that each day we, too, are creating history. Here's to the future of Rod 'N' Reel Resort, with it's historical roots and traditions of the past, ready to serve you in the present.
Phase 1 was completed in 2021 with the removal of Smokey Joe's Grill and the addition of the parking garage structure and 1936 Bar & Grill.
In 2023, Phase 2 was completed with the opening of our new barbecue restaurant - CBQ, two floors of gaming areas, and The Overlook event space. An elevated walkway from the parking garage that will give guests a direct walkway from the second floor of the parking garage into the second floor game room. Our Marina Office is located under the elevated walkway for all your boating and fishing needs, as well as sourvenirs and merchandise. Hotel guest are able to enjoy the roof top pool and pool house.
Once Phase 2 was completed, the original Rod ‘N’ Reel building was taken down, which had been there since 1946. The new Rod ‘N’ Reel dining room will be going back to its original location from 1946, which will include outdoor dining on Fishing Creek. We will have a flexible banquet space that can accommodate up to 500 people or allow for two simultaneous events. A roof top deck with an eagle’s eye view overlooking the Bay will allow groups to have happy hour, private events, or a wedding ceremony.
This space will also be reimagined to offer additional hotel rooms, with the majority of them facing east overlooking The Chesapeake Bay. Connecting the existing hotel, and the new Rod ‘N’ Reel building will be a three-story atrium with direct views of the Bay. The atrium will host year round wedding ceremonies, events and live music. An additional feature will be a mezzanine bar, featuring artisan coffee.
